Back to school!

8/8/2013

Hello and welcome (back) everyone!

It's never easy returning to school (or work) after such a long holiday. You might be surprised to learn that teachers go through many of the same feelings as students do at this time of year. A whole summer has passed when we were able to live for ourselves, not worry about what time we went to bed and not have to be any particular place at any particular time. Our return to school brings all of this to an abrupt end. In spite of this, it's important to look at the positive side too. For me it's good to catch up with old friends, and make new ones. There are also many new students from wonderfully diverse backgrounds which further enriches ISPP's truly international environment. I'm really looking forward to getting to know these students more and helping them to develop as learners. I enjoy learning every day, as I'm sure you do too. Any opportunity to get learning again can surely only be viewed as a positive, can't it?

So over to you....Whether you're an ISPP veteran or a nervous newbie, share your feelings about being at school this week....Could you imagine life as one long holiday? How would your life be different? Do we need school to give us goals in life?

Hallo every one
I was so sluggish when I come back to school, also I'm still can't returning to school but I will hang on during this year. If the life is one long holiday that's very happy but I think if we don't know the knowledge we can't enjoy the holiday. Also we have to know how to cook and drive and life will be inconvenient so we have to go to school for life and myself.

Hello there classmates!
SO SCHOOL IS BACK! I guessed no one wants to be back at school, even me. Well, My feelings about being at school this week is not that bad. At first I was a bit scared because now I'm in high school and I know that it's going to be so hard this year. There will be a test with important subjects and there's going to be a lot of works to do. I don't know if I can afford all those hard works or not but I will give a try, I will do my best as much as I can.
Summer has gone. I can say that it wasn't enough for me but staying at home all day long won't help. Sometimes I really want to come to school instead of staying at home doing nothing. It's a waste of time. And also I'm curious about knowing what 9th grade will be. Is it going to be so hard? Is the lesson similar to 8th grade? I was really worrying about those things.
There are new teachers and new friends in the school. Those people will give me more experiences about learning and studying. They will help me develop my learning. We all need school to give us goals in life. I can't wait till the end of high school and I can't wait to go to college.
HOPE IT’LL BE A GOOD YEAR FOR ME and MY CLASSMATES TOO.

Hi mates, it is now time for us to get back to school. I know that on our holidays we been in many nice place and we all have fun. It is hard for us to get back to school. We miss all of our holidays that we think we have more time that and enjoy and the good place and view. I think that we also miss all of our old friends that leave to another school. We also have new friends and we need to get a a long with them too. The hardest thing about get back to school is that we need to wake up early again. The second reason is that we have new schedule and we also have more home work. I think my life as one long holiday is fun and it make me very happy. I also hope that the school could be like one long holiday. I thing that my life in school is different then one long holidays. I think that because in school we need to work hard and we need to study. For one long holidays we have fun and we got to go and see many place.

Good afternoon everyone, this is the last day of our first week. I know that some people would say, "This has been worst week in my life !" Okay, okay, that's true. Though it has been totally different from
our vacation life, to me, it was fun. Of course, not all things were fun. I met my friend again and made a new friend also. That was so fun to me. Didn't you miss your friends during the vacation? Well, we don't have time to talk anymore. Now we should pay attention for the tsunami that is called "homework" that is about to attack us! Actually, this doesn't bother me too much, as I wish to improve my english skills more.

Hi mates,
It is now time to get ready and go to school. Our holiday is the only time of freedom and meet family and having fun. Now you have to do homework, test and more. But I think education is what everyone need. It just likes a medicine. Now we have to wake up early and prepare our self for a long day at school. Well coming to school every year you meet new friends but sadly say goodbye to some of our old friends.

Hello everyone!! So I finally came back from my long long summer vacation in Tokyo and it was really nice, I had fun with my old friends and my family.
So it's not easy to go back to your school life.
I was excited to meet up with my friends at the first day of school but I'm feeling a bit of nervous now because my class level will be much higher than last year I need to try harder in every single class.

Thanks all for your posts.

Good to see you are all very balanced with regard to your feelings about returning to school.

@Sogo - I like how you use the word "sluggish" to describe yourself on the first day. I guess you were not alone in this.

@Dalis&Go - You both mention you are worried that Grade 9 will be much harder than last year. That might be true but you now have a full year's experience of life in the school and this should make the transition much smoother. As long as you learn from your mistakes, work hard and maintain a positive attitude, you'll be fine.

@James - Yes, having to get up early is definitely the worst thing about going back to school.

@Manuel - I like how you compare education to medicine - an interesting simile.

@Bella - It's always good for a teacher to hear that his students like learning :)

@Jin Hoon - I like how you compare homework to a tsunami - a nice metaphor. Good that you can also view that as a positive.

Thanks again everyone.

I wish you all the best this academic year!
